Indian Super League outfit Kerala Blasters has signed a 3-year contract extension with their young Indian defender Bijoy Vargheese. This came along with the shocking reinstallation of the club's N0 21 jersey made iconic by the club's former captain, Sandesh Jhingan. " Our new number 21 is 𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘺.The club announced in its social media post announcing the extension of the 22-year-old. Bijoy Varghese is considered one of the most promising Defenders after Ruiva Hormipam, another young center-back. Bijoy started his professional career with SAI, at the age of 20, where he was scouted by Kerala Blasters. A stand outperformance in the KPL quickly gave him a promotion to the club's main team, an impressive pre-season followed which gave Ivan Vukumanovic the confidence to start such a young player in the first-ever match of the Hero ISL 2021-22, against a strong title-contending team like ATKMB. Bijoy went on to play 5 more matches for Kerala Blasters that season and has developed into a reliable center-back option. At 22 years old, we are yet to see the best of him, no doubt.
