With an extra-time goal, an equalizing extra-time goal, And a nail-biting penalty shootout (5-4), Kerala had beaten 32 times champions Bengal, to win their 7th title in front of over 26,000 supporters at the Manjeri stadium. Dilip Orwon(97) opened the scoring For Bengal, and for Kerala Bibin Ajayan(117) had equalised.

90 minutes and stoppage time of disciplined football could not separate the two sides, as both sides managed to squander their chances. The match was taken to the extra time and it was Bengal who drew first blood. A mix up between two Kerala players led them to give the ball away to Supriyo Pandit, who curled one in to the box, which found Dilip Orwon, who headed it home to give Bengal the lead in the 97th minute. (1-0) The match went into the penalties as Kerala found a late minute equaliser through Bibin Ajayan (117). A beautiful through ball played into the right had found Noufal, whose cross found the overlapping defender at point blank range, and for him, finishing was a mere formality.
